CASH REVIEW

I’m generally a huge sucker for funny things. I don’t watch a lot of web content, if anything I tend to avoid entertaining things I find aggravating or antagonizing. However, I was quietly watching this video on TikTok. My wife tells me it’s funny — really just to boost her ego. This video pretty much explains why making jokes is often quite difficult for me. Just seeing what other people are making, what I’m not, and the various “Blasé” humor methods out there. And I noticed a surprising trend. What’s going on here?

(L-R) One of the sketches from "Assassin" begins playing before the beginning of the video (which itself starts just showing jokes in a journal). (

“A biographer who always talks about himself in the second person narrates the story of his childhood. (L) Another character from the documentary, Emily, returns to the journals that her and her brother’s old teacher kept. (L) In one of the sketches, a character tries to recreate one of his student’s initial performances from “The Matrix” but doesn’t quite get it. (

That’s it! There are a few other sketches too, but I want to just focus on these. I’m going to call all of these before they even start on the joke list so let’s turn it over.

One of the sketches from “Assassin” begins playing before the beginning of the video (which itself starts just showing jokes in a journal). This is another one from Seth and Tim Dunne’s documentary. I don’t have a good view of those sketches yet, but all of them start with the heads of the person telling the story being identified, a weird time in order, and a weird scene in which somebody explains the historical situation in an African village, where, according to this documentary, a local king had been there, but then he traveled elsewhere and disappeared during the time of the Holocaust. My wife says it’s hilarious, but I have more in store.
